Courtney Love takes Hole bandmates to strip club

November 26, 2009

Courtney Love took her Hole bandmates to a strip club.

The rocker – the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain – went to New York’s famous Scores club earlier this week, but as the male musicians enjoyed the girls’ performances, Courtney reminisced about her own days as an erotic dancer.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: ‘Courtney brought in a group of guys who all looked like Keith Richards, some of whom were in her band. She was saying she used to be a stripper and appreciated what the girls do. Courtney left in a limousine with a female friend after 45 minutes, leaving the band to enjoy themselves.”

Courtney decided to reform Hole earlier this year.

The wild rocker ditched plans to release a solo album after deciding the tracks for the proposed record were more suited to her old band´s music.

Courtney replaced founding Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson with British musician Micko Larkin – who previously was a member of Larrikin Love – while original bassist Melissa Auf Der Mar will provide backing vocals on the LP, titled ‘Nobody’s Daughter’.

Lady Gaga bullied at school

November 26, 2009

The ‘Bad Romance’ singer and musician claims she was taunted as a teenager because of the way she looked and says she now wears bizarre clothes so any of her fans who are also being ridiculed can look to her for inspiration.

She told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: ‘I want to create a space for my fans where they can feel free, and they can celebrate. I didn’t fit in at high school, I wanted to be like Boy George and I felt like a freak. So I like to create this atmosphere for my fans where they feel like they have a freak in me to hang out with, and they don’t feel alone.”

It took Lady Gaga, now 23, years to get over the bullying she suffered but she is now totally comfortable in her own skin and is proud of who she is.

She added: ‘It took a long time for me to be OK with myself. But I want my fans to know that it is OK. Sometimes in life you don’t always feel like a winner, but that doesn’t mean you’re not a winner.”

Grohl thought Reading would end Nirvana

November 26, 2009

DAVE GROHL has admitted he was convinced that headlining the Reading Festival would end Nirvana’s career.

The band’s former drummer said he wasn’t sure they would be able to pull off the performance in 1992 after frontman Kurt Cobain was brought on stage in a wheelchair.

Speaking to the Scotsman, Grohl said: “Kurt had been in and out of rehab, communication in the band was beginning to be strained.

“Kurt was living in LA,Krist [Novoselic] and I were in Seattle. People weren’t even sure if we were going to show up.

“We rehearsed [for Reading] once, the night before, and it wasn’t good. I really thought, ‘This will be a disaster, this will be the end of our career for sure.’ And then it turned out to be a wonderful show, and it healed us for a little while.”

Nirvana split in 1994 after Cobain’s suicide in April that year and Grohl, who now fronts the Foo Fighters, said he thinks the band´s music is misleadingly thought of as gloomy.

He added: “It’s easy to imagine that we were followed by a black cloud. But it wasn’t all misery and doom. People know the biography, but it’s a little more complicated than that.”

Graham Coxon hopes Blur will reunite

November 26, 2009

Graham Coxon is hoping Blur will reunite again next year.

The guitarist – who rejoined his bandmates, frontman Damon Albarn, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree, for several summer shows this year – is still hopeful the group will make another album and tour again, even though the individual members have gone their separate ways.

He said: ‘Everyone has gone back to their day jobs from the Blur thing. Damon’s really involved with Gorillaz stuff, so that’s obviously taking up a lot of his time and energy. But I’m open to suggestions as far as next year goes.’

Graham insists it was a fantastic experience to rejoin Blur after departing in acrimonious circumstances in 2002, while the band were recording the album ‘Think Tank’, and one he hopes to repeat.

He added to NME magazine: ‘It was really good to play some music, get close to those boys and play rock concerts. The Blur thing was obviously excellent. I mean, you can’t get a better job than that – great big guitar sound and a huge audience. We had such a good time, we all felt so brotherly and the audiences were so great to us.’

After the band split in 2002 Graham went on to launch a solo career, while Damon formed groups Gorillaz and The Good, the Bad and the Queen and also wrote the opera ‘Monkey: Journey to the West’.

Alex gave up music to become a cheese farmer and Dave studied to become a lawyer to aid his burgeoning political career.

Miley Cyrus thinks she is the ‘coolest person ever

November 26, 2009

The ‘Hannah Montana’ star is never scared of meeting other famous people because she is far trendier than everyone she knows.

When asked if she gets star-struck, she replied: ‘No, I’m pretty cool. I’m pretty much the coolest person ever, no, I’m pretty cool. I’m pretty much the coolest person ever.’

Although she is a world famous music star, 17-year-old Miley does have something in common with her fellow teenagers – she has a crush on ‘High School Musical’ heartthrob Zac Efron

During an interview with Sirius XM radio show ‘The Morning Mash Up’, she said: ‘There are not many things about me that are like a normal teenage girl. But the one normal teenage girl thing is that I think Zac Efron is the hottest person in the world. I really, really like him. And it’s weird, it’s weird because he’s my friend. I think also the reason he is so sexy is because he and Vanessa Hudgens have been together since the first ‘High School Musical’ and, I think that’s really cool.’

Zac, 22, isn’t the only actor Miley thinks is hot. She quipped: ‘Johnny Depp is way hotter than Robert Pattinson, for sure.’

Eminem wants to be an ‘X Factor’ judge

November 26, 2009

The rapper is reportedly a massive fan of the UK TV talent show, and has told judge and producer Simon Cowell to get him on the panel so he can give the hopefuls advice on what it’s like to be a global music star.

Eminem doesn’t think the current judges – Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole, Australian singer Dannii Minogue, the sister of Kylie Minogue, and music manager Louis Walsh – have been successful enough to help the acts.

The ‘We Made You’ rapper said: “No disrespect to the current judges but you need people who are global, platinum-selling stars. You need to prepare contestants for what it’s really like out there, and what sort of pressure you are going to be under.”

The 37-year-old hip-hop star guarantees he would find a platinum-selling star if he and his producer friend Dr. Dre had a guest slot as judges.

He added to Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “So much average talent comes out of these reality shows. A hip-hop star will never win a show like the ‘X Factor’ without somebody like me on the panel. It needs somebody in power to open a door for them.

“I’m not sure I would have the time to do it full-time, but I would come out and be a guest judge. Simon tells it like it is and I am down with that.”

Rolling Stones to go on new world tour

November 26, 2009

The Rolling Stones are to go on a world tour in 2010.

The rock music veterans – whose last tour finished in 2007 and earned them more than £300 million – are planning a mammoth run of shows next year, according to Ronnie Wood’s cocktail waitress girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova.

The 20-year-old Russian waitress – who has been dating 62-year-old Ronnie since he walked out on his 23-year marriage to Jo Wood in July 2009 – has been a little indiscreet in letting the world know about their plans.

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “She’s not supposed to talk about it, things haven’t been finalised but she couldn’t resist telling a few friends.”

Ronnie recently admitted he had been in touch with his Rolling Stones bandmates Sir Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts and insisted everything was ‘great’ between them, despite rumours he could be fired from the group because of his parting lifestyle.
